In my group I am doing 'Policits' in the media but because this question is very broad I'm going to change it to 'How Graphic Design in the media sways opinion".
This is the first example I found and its from 'Information is Beautiful' Its such a good poster in that it really explains to the audience what the Left and Right side are like and how they differ. Its basically turned quite a difficult subject into this interesting diagram which anybody can inderstand. By combining simple text and image the poster is easily understood despite having a shed load of information. This poster isn't on any side and isn't bias so when answering the question, it doesn't exactly sway opinion, but its tells you to step back and get to grips with what side does what.
Here is a poster from the conservative party
This poster relates with the sun Healing and all the great things that will happen if you vote conservative. Like all posters from back in the day they are all over the top and the imagery is always easy to understand. The man in the poster who has his arm around the woman's shoulders is meaning there to say "look at a better world".
Posters during this time have this feeling of danger with them. That was the beauty with propaganda during this period it really scared people into picking a side. Not so much scare but gave this sense that in order to save that boat from death you MUST vote conservative. Very good use of metaphor.
After exploring the internet for modern day posters to do with Politics it was incredibly hard to find anything! My own guess is that when the television came into our world people would use that to Sway the masses opinions. The poster is quite bland and only has two colours and personally, it doesn't say a lot to me

In this poster, it doesn't say what change will happen if you vote. I guess because of modern day media you find out over the television and newspaper. However, it lacks so much information. When looking at the posters from the 1900s you really get a good of what change will happen. In this poster you get a fresh feeling from it.
